How should you convert pounds, ounces, and grams?

Recipe in grams, kitchen scale in ounces? FluffyBench's Mass Converter changes the units while the amount stays the same.

How it works
  1. Match the starting unit
  2. Choose the destination unit
  3. Enter a weight
  4. Read or copy the answer

Mass units

Kilogram (kg), Gram (g), Pound (lb), Ounce (oz).

Decimal weights

You can enter decimals or 1e6-style numbers.

Other units alongside

The result panel also lists the weight in the other mass units.

Limits Input value accepts numbers; units belong in From.

What changes when you convert a weight?

It's like relabeling a jar: the contents stay put, and you write their weight in a different unit. A smaller unit takes a bigger number to describe the same amount.

One jar with unchanged contents has two equivalent labels: 1 everyday oz and 28.349523125 g.

What should you check before pasting a weight?

Copy takes the number without its unit. Add the destination unit when you paste into a note, or use a field that's already labeled with that unit.

A real result reads 28.349523125 grams. The clipboard contains 28.349523125. An illustrated recipe note adds g after the pasted number.
Keep the gram label with the number so the weight makes sense.

Which ounces can FluffyBench Mass Converter use?

FluffyBench's Ounce choice means the everyday ounce, also called avoirdupois. Precious-metal prices may use the heavier troy ounce; there isn't a troy option here, so don't enter a troy weight as oz.

Bars on a shared gram scale: everyday ounce 28.349523125 g, troy ounce 31.1034768 g.
Both bars start at zero; the troy ounce weighs more.

Fluid ounces measure volume, so they don't belong in either bar. FluffyBench's Mass Converter has no fluid-ounce option, and FluffyBench's Volume Converter doesn't offer fluid ounces either.

Why does FluffyBench show so many digits?

Exact unit definitions don't always turn into tidy decimals. FluffyBench displays up to 14 significant digits; those digits don't make your kitchen scale more precise.

An exact definition, 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg, leads to the rounded display 1 kg = 2.2046226218488 lb.
An exact definition can give a rounded answer in the other direction.
